by Shirley Gault
Shirley Gault is no stranger to listeners of local radio in her native Northern Ireland, having a regular and popular poetry reading slot.
She began by writing Valentine’s Day rhymes for friends before having her first poetry published. Her style has been described as ‘romantic,’ and she says that being a ‘people person and people watcher’ enables her to cover love in all its forms – love of people, love of places and love of life.
This collection is divided into four distinct categories: Home & Away; Straight from the Heart; Passions Shared; and Pot Pourri.
“My inspiration can come from a single word or a beautiful sunset; nature’s inspiration is endless,” says Shirley.
And comments Broadcaster & Entertainer Candy Devine: “Her poems will make you laugh, they will make you cry, they will make you think. In 2000 I interviewed Shirley on Downtown Radio and, after being introduced to her writing, invited her to read some of her work on the programme. We received an instant response and her readings have become a popular and regular feature on Friday nights. I am delighted that Shirley’s work is gaining wider recognition.”
"Sat down with this book on Saturday morning with a cuppa and found myself overcome with emotions. Shirley's poems really struck a cord with me and i found comfort and reassurance in this book that i really wasn't expecting. The book is also full of humour, romance and a feistiness that shows us a little of Shirleys personality."
"A beautiful collection of poetry, I thoroughly enjoyed it and know this is a book I'll return to again and again. I bought a copy for my mother, she tells me she has it on her bedside table and reads sections from it every night and loves it. Recommended as a perfect gift for a loved one. Honest, haunting and heartrending."
