by A L McAuley
The journey began in ‘88’ and continued in ‘Amulet’
An astonishing discovery in the quiet waters of Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland
A sparkling gem uncovered deep in a lake in Bavaria in Germany
A battle with mythical beings and legendary creatures
A world where the age of one’s death is predetermined
A world of mystery and intrigue, a world where reality and fantasy seamlessly blend
The frantic hunt for a missing piece of a highly coveted ancient artefact that when whole is said to have powers beyond the wildest of imaginations reaches new heights in this, the third book in the series.
Originally stolen from the Neues museum in Berlin and identified as the famous Amulet ben Sirach had given to King Nebuchadnezzar, the Amulet has to be reunited with its missing wing no matter the cost.
EMPIRE is a truly fantastical tale of tragedy and triumph where dreams become nightmares. It will grip you and drag you to the very last page.

"Fantastic, was worried the final part of this story would not measure up to Eighty Eight and Amulet, how wrong was I, from the opening line to the final page I was holding my breath, with every twist and turn utterly brilliant and I would love to see this trilogy on the big screen."
Once again, an action-packed, can't go to sleep read from AL McAuley with the third book in what I think of as the algae trilogy, Empire. In the tradition of really great authors, he seamlessly blends the everyday with the fantastical, making it all oh-so believable, weaving a story that carries you with it right to the last word. Eva's evolution through the trilogy from lily-livered, self-effacing coward to enhanced, empowered, confident woman who can stand firm against all comers, human or fae, is made all the more real by the strength of her innate goodness. this is an un-put-downable read from start to finish but one word of caution - read ll three in close succession, for the action is so fast paced, you really need the have what comes before fresh in your mind. Pure brilliant. And what of Valentine? Do I anticipate more? Excellent.
