Another Time Another Place
by Shirley Gault
She was visibly shaken. Angus her dearest friend was in love with her! She really did love him too, but not in a romantic way, more as a brother. Oh no, please do not let this be happening, she thought.
‘Another Time Another Place’ is the first published collection of short stories from the author of the much praised books of poetry, ‘Reflections’ & ‘Reflections Two.’
The collection includes ‘The Warder’s Daughter,’ an autobiographical account, dedicated to the memory of her loving parents, Mary and Albert, which focuses on the dilemmas and delights of growing up in Belfast in the 1960s.
“My inspiration can come from a single word or a beautiful sunset; nature’s inspiration is endless,” says Shirley, who was born in Belfast and educated at Carr's Glen Primary and Belfast Royal Academy.
A great collection of short stories from this talented Northern Irish writer - I particularly enjoyed the autobiographical piece, 'The Warder's Daughter', Shirley's account of her life growing up and dating in 1950's/60's Belfast is insightful and at times amusing, loved her three maiden aunts - "You don't want to end up like us sitting on the shelf dangling our legs!" I bought this book for a friend and she loved it too. A perfect gift.
Purchased this for my kindle on a friends recommendation , decided to have a sneak preview at the first page and couldnt put it down , finished the book in one day great story well worth a read.
